farewell, friend

My last picture of Wrangler as he was relaxing one morning.

     I came back from vacation this week to find that Wrangler, one of the senior horses, had passed away a few days earlier. I had groomed Wrangler several times, the first time as he was shedding his winter coat. He was always so calm and quiet, and he really liked the attention of being groomed. Once Debora told me his story, which you can read on the Meet The Herd page, I always enjoyed talking to him about his lively past. Standing next to him, you never would have known he had been a racehorse and a rodeo horse. He was just a gentle, lovely horse.
     I know that everyone at Wings will miss him. Debora wrote a lovely tribute to him, which you can read on the home page. Irmak retired his blue feed bucket and planted some flowers in it and decorated it with prayer flags. Farewell, friend...
