Healing tools for horses

PictureScooter with the PEMF loop on his withers
I was really pleased this week to be in a position to offer the use of a Pulsed Electro Magnetic Frequency (PEMF) machine to Wings. This is a technology that sends a pulsed charge of energy through a loop that can be placed on the body. The energy charge vitalizes the cells, allowing for cell waste to leave the cell and nutrients to enter the cell. This can be a big help in healing tissue of any kind. The portable unit I have is ideal for working on horses as it can be moved to the barn easily. On Monday, Debora and I worked on several horses.

Scooter's knee treatment
Scooter had treatment on his withers, hips and front knees. I was really surprised that the horses were not bothered by the pulsed charge, which actually makes the muscles twitch. They were very calm while we were working on them. Patches had treatment on her withers and hips, and for Hoback we put a longer loop around his belly to help with a colic issue he has been having this past week.

I noticed while walking Scooter back to his pen that he was moving much more easily and not visibly limping. Yay!

We had a big challenge with flies this week, so all the horses got fly masks and fly ointment spread on their noses and chins. It's not always easy to get a horse to stand still for these procedures, but I learned that you just have to be firm with them and most times they will submit to having it done. It's disconcerting to walk up to a horse and see it's face covered in flies, so these procedures really help.

Next weekend, August 21 & 22, we'll be at the Celtic Festival at the Daly Mansion so come on down and meet some of our minis and check out our booth near the jousting area.
